Abstract

Za srpsko slikarstvo poznog XIX veka, delo Leona Koena (1859-1934) ima samosvojno mesto i izazovan raspon. Međutim, sa svega petnaest sačuvanih radova, likovna ostavština primila je začuđujuću isprepletanost stvaralačkih moći i tragičnih nepogoda. Neodvojivost tog spoja u celini njegove umetnosti ima psihološko i istorijsko poreklo. Izvori i pretpostavke sa slikareve putanje fragmentarno iskazuju silinu osobenog temperamenta i zanesenosti, štedljivo dopuštajući analitičko i teorijsko prodiranje u celovitost njegove pojave.

For the late 19th century Serbian painting, Leon Cohen's work (1859-1934) has a distinctive place and a challenging range. However, with only fifteen works preserved, the fine art heritage has received a surprising intertwining of creative powers and tragic disasters. The inseparability of this compound in the whole of his art has a psychological and historical origin. The sources and assumptions of the painter are tracing fragmentarily express the force of peculiar temperament and enthusiasm, sparingly allowing analytical and theoretical permeation into the wholeness of his appearance.
