Abstract

Sredina u kojoj se rodio, rastao i živio dr Moric Levi bila je patrijarhalna. Većina naroda bila je vrlo siromašna i živjela od dana do dana. Dr Moric Levi, po prirodi osjećajan i bistar, duboko je osjećao ove teške i potresne prizore i dramu toga svijeta. Pratio je neimaštinu svoje sredine i s nevjerovatnom upornošću razmišljao što se može i mora učiniti da se takvo stanje što brže popravi. Vjerovao je da treba djecu što više slati u škole i da će se prosvjećivanjem riješiti mnogi životni problemi. Imao je malo saradnika na tom poslu. Konzervativna i primitivna sredina opirala se svakom uvođenju novih i modernih reformi. Zato je posao, kome se posvetio cijelog života, bio ne samo vrlo težak nego i nezahvalan. Uporan i izdržljiv, ne napušta posao na pola puta. Sa puno takta prilazi i svojim protivnicima, širi i propovijeda napredne misli. U tom prelomnom vremenu imao je presudnu ulogu u životu zajednice koja je prelazila iz tradicionalne u modernu.

The ambiance where Dr. Moric Levi was born, grow up and lived was patriarchal. Most of the people were very poor. Dr. Moric Levi, naturally sensitive and clever, deeply felt these difficult and touching scenes and the drama of this world. He monitored the poverty of his midst and thought with incredible persistence what could and should be done to improve this situation as quickly as possible. He believed that children should be sent to schools as much as possible and that many life problems would be solved through education. He had very few associates in the job. The conservative and primitive environment has resisted any introduction of new and modern reforms. The work he devoted to all his life was not only very difficult but also unthankful. Persistent and durable, he does not quit his job halfway. With a lot of tact, he approaches his opponents, spreads and preaches advanced thoughts. At that crucial time, he played a decisive role in the life of the community, which went from traditional to modern.
