The law established the national institution Yad Vashem with the task of perpetuating the memory of six million Jews destroyed by the Nazis and their helpers and Jewish families exterminated by the oppressors; to communities, temples, movements, and organizations; to cultural, educational, religious and charitable institutions that were destroyed in order to erase the name and culture of the Jewish people; on the daring of the Jews who sacrificed their lives for their people; to the courage of soldiers - Jews as well as Jewish fighters and partisans in cities, villages, and forests, who were killed in the fight against Nazi criminals and their helpers; the heroic and persistent struggle of the Jewish people who, despite the danger of destruction, advocated the preservation of human dignity and Jewish culture; the heroic resistance of the prisoners and ghetto fighters who raised to revolt to save the honor of their people; to the desperate efforts of the endangered to reach the shores of salvation in the Jewish land in spite of all disturbances; to the bravery and commitment of their brothers who rescued and freed the survivors; to the righteous of all nations who took the risk their lives to save the Jews.en
