Pozdrav jednom pobeđenom Evropejcu: uz 20-godišnjicu smrti Stefana Zweiga

Abstract

U prvim godinama nakon završetka rata, pojava Cvajgove autobiografije "Svet jučerašnjice" stavila je njegov život i delo ponovo u žižu interesovanja miliona čitalaca širom sveta. Nešto kasnije, desetogodišnjica njegove smrti bila je obeležena brojnim napisima, dvema biografijama i obimnom edicijom "Veliki Evropejac Stefan Cvajg" koja predstavlja impozantan zbornik odavanja počasti, kako po broju priloga, tako i po značaju njihovih autora. U toj spomenici ocenu Cvajga kao stvaraoca i čoveka, požrtvovanog prijatelja i uzora drugim, naročito mladim književnicima, dali su veliki pisci našeg vremena kao npr. Tomas Man. U mnogim od tih članaka dominira pokušaj traženja motiva koji su doveli do njegovog samoubistva.

In the first years after the end of the war, the appearance of Zweig's autobiography, "The World of Yesterday," put his life and work back on the focus of the interest of millions of readers around the world. A little later, the 10th anniversary of his death was marked by numerous inscriptions, two biographies and an extended edition of "The Great European Stefan Zweig", which is an imposing collection of honors, both in the number of articles and the importance of their authors. In this monument, Zweig's assessment as a creator and a man, a devoted friend and role model to others, especially young writers, was given by great writers of our time, such as Thomas Mann. Many of these articles are dominated by attempts to look for the motives that led to his suicide.
