Abstract
U Beogradu se, kao i u nizu drugih gradova Turskog carstva, u toku XVII veka, osim privrednog razvijao i sve intenzivniji naučni jevrejski život. U Turskom carstvu postojala je verska i građanska tolerancija prema Jevrejima, nasuprot njihovim progonima i obespravljenosti u hrišćanskoj Evropi. U radu je opisan životni put Josipa Ibn Danona koji je posle pada Beograda 1688. godine sa porodicom, preko Praga stigao u Amsterdam, da bi ga potom put odveo dalje u London...
In Belgrade, as in a number of other cities of the Turkish Empire, during the seventeenth century, in addition to economic development, an increasingly intense scientific Jewish life developed. In the Turkish Empire, there was a religious and civic tolerance towards Jews, in the face of their persecution and discouragement in Christian Europe. The paper describes the life of Joseph Ibn Danon. After the fall of Belgrade in 1688, Joseph with his family arrived in Amsterdam via Prague and continued to London...
