Abstract

Centropa is a non-profit, Jewish historical institute dedicated to preserving 20th-century Jewish family stories and photos from Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans, and disseminating these stories and photos through films, books and exhibitions. Centropa is an innovative Jewish historical institute that uses new technologies to preserve Jewish memory - and bring Jewish history to life. Centropa believes there is so much more to our 20th-century European Jewish heritage than Holocaust. Their goal was to visit 1,200 elderly Jews - from Tallinn to Istanbul, from St. Petersburg to Bucharest, and ask them to share their stories of the entire 20th century. Centropa never used video in their interviews. Instead, they digitized 22,000 privately-held old photographs and documents and then made them available, free of charge, online.

Centropa je neprofitni, jevrejski istorijski institut posvećen očuvanju jevrejskih porodičnih priča i fotografija iz 20. veka iz centralne i istočne Evrope i Balkana i širenju ovih priča i fotografija kroz filmove, knjige i izložbe.
