Abstract
A monument to Jewish soldiers who took part in the Balkan Wars and the First World War was erected in 1927 at the Sephardic Jewish Cemetery in Belgrade. By erecting the memorial, the contribution of the Jews in the establishing of the country in which they lived was emphasized. As part of preserving the memory of war victims and their heroism, a committee was formed to collect funds and materials about the dead, to excavate and transfer their remains, as well as to make and print the Memorial, which is an unavoidable supplement and program explanation of the monument. The process, which lasted for almost a decade, ended with the unveiling of the monument and the Memorial publication of 1927.
