Abstract
The story of Esther, which is at the centre of Purim's merry celebration, is basically a reflection of the fate of Jews in the diaspora. The plot of this story indicates what has been confirmed throughout the history of the Jewish people, and that is that the lives of Jews are often uncertain, that they are potentially exposed to anti-Semitism in the diaspora and there is always a danger of falling victim to this or that political option. Queen Esther, the brave heroine of this story, confirms her ability to adapt while remaining true to her origins. These qualities make her equally important to Christian women hence the story of Esther is one that connects many different in faith and life. The hallmarks of the Purim holiday are merry parties and gifts from friends as well as the poor.
