The paper describes the fates of two Jewish artists who were born in Subotica - Klara Gereb (Subotica, 1897 - Auschwitz, 1944), the first woman from Subotica, an educated graphic artist and applied artist, and Nandor Glid (Subotica, 1924 - Belgrade, 1997). The value and significance of Klara Gereb's artistic activity is an unavoidable point in the art history of Subotica and the wider region, and the history of her family is also important from the aspect of the history of the city. She was one of the first academically educated women from Subotica, artists, and the first graphic artist and applied artist in the city, and the fact that she is a victim of the Holocaust sheds light on crimes that are still incomprehensible and painful from today's perspective. One of the most famous artists whose works have been placed in several places in the world as monuments to the victims of the Holocaust is a Jew of Subotica origin, Nandor Glid (Subotica, 1924 - Belgrade, 1997). The artist was taken to a forced labor unit in Szeged in April 1944, thanks to which he escaped deportation to death camps in the summer of the same year, which failed his parents, relatives, and sister, who was the only survivor to return from Auschwitz. Glid's graphic map of the Holocaust was created in 1985/6 but most of his sculptures were inspired by the Holocaust and the war - some of the famous examples are in Mauthausen (1957), Dachau (1965), Subotica (1967), Jerusalem (1979) and Kragujevac (1980).sr
