Abstract
The film follows the life of Jews at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century in Serbia, i.e. time before and during the First and Second Balkan Wars and the First World War. It is the time of Serbia's struggle for liberation from the Turkish occupation, and then the war against Austro-Hungary. The film talks about the legal regulations that determined the status of Jews in Serbia, as well as the issue of their inclusion in the wars for the freedom of Serbia. A monument at the Jewish Cemetery in Belgrade is dedicated to all Jews who lost their lives in those wars. The Jewish organization in active participation in the struggles for the liberation of Serbia is shown, as well as in the support in collecting financial contributions and in organizing the Jewish hospital for the needs of the wounded serbian fighters. The film gives biographies of numerous Jews who distinguished themselves in these wars, together with Serbian comrades-in-arms. The film also talks about the e...ngagement of a Swiss doctor of Jewish origin, Dr Archibald Reiss, who helped Serbia with all his heart.
