Devetog aprila 1941. godine, fašističke jedinice: SS divizija "Adolf Hitler", 73. pešadijska divizija i 12. oklopna divizija zauzeli su Bitolj posle kraće ulične borbe.
On April 9, 1941, fascist units: the SS Division "Adolf Hitler", the 73rd Infantry Division, and the 12th Armored Division occupied Bitola after a brief street fight. Very soon after the occupation of Yugoslavia and the arrival of the Bulgarian fascist government in Bitola, on April 22, 1941, the civilian authorities of the Bulgarian administrative authorities marked all Jewish craft and trade shops with a special card which was written in German "Jewish shop". The aim of this "warning" was twofold - the inscription warned the Germans not to shop at Jewish stores, while at the same time suggesting that the shop could be looted. The beginning of the terrible genocide of the Jews of Bitola started on March 11, 1943, and ended after a few days in the crematoriums of the Treblinka destruction camp in Poland. Immediately after the liberation, the authorities began to gather detailed data on the destruction of the Bitola Jews.en
