Rabin dr L. Weissberger u članku o ceremonijalnom zakonu analizira svrhu verskih obreda i zakona Tore.
Rabbi Dr. L. Weissberger analyzes the purpose of religious rites and the laws of the Torah in an article on ceremonial law. The origin of the Jewish people is so closely connected with the Torah and inseparably linked with God's instructions that Israel cannot be imagined without the Torah, and even the very existence of Israel is conditioned by its attitude towards the Torah. Jewish law consists of the general moral-civil order of human society, of the ethical-moral order of human instincts, as a minimal program of God's demands on humanity. The Torah, the Jewish book of laws, contains the legal regulation of civil relations, material conditions among people, the regulation of possessions, the solution of social problems that valid to all mankind. However, the true Jewish law, which constitutes the characteristic essence of Judaism - the ceremonial law, obligated only Jews for whom a wider range of duties and tasks is intended. These special duties given only to them enable them to strive to be closer to God and achieve a higher degree of human perfection. Dr. Weissberger believes that priests and prophets were the pillars of Judaism who together pursued the great and sublime goal of spreading moral and religious ideas. The prophet did not exaggerate with the ethics to the detriment of the ritual, he did not humiliate the ceremony for the love of morals. The priest did not neglect moral values in favor of external observation but sought social and fair regulation of human relations. The author cites examples according to which almost all prophets not only raised and recommended certain ceremonial laws but also discussed and executed the entire complex of these laws. Dr. Weissberger concludes that the fulfillment of ceremonies and rituals establishes an intimacy between the earthly and the heavenly, awakens a desire for similarity with God and that their frequent symbolic repetition tends to educate human character according to God's will. Ceremonial laws are the means by which God influences us, so they are an essential core of religion. They ennoble the intellect, cultivate feelings, develop a passion for justice and morality, and raise the passion against sin and evil.sr
