O potrebi povjesnice Jevreja u Jugoslaviji

Abstract

Dr Lavoslav Šik u svom članku govori o velikoj potrebi istraživanja i pisanja istorije Jevreja koji žive na jugoslovenskom prostoru. Navodi autore i primere u drugim zemljama - Austriji, Nemačkoj, Francuskoj, Češkoj, Ugarskoj, Poljskoj i Rusiji, u kojima su se veoma ozbiljno počeli sakupljati izvori i literatura za jevrejsku istoriju. Sakupljena jevrejska literatura je impozantna. Štampane su knjige o Jevrejima u tim zemaljama, o jevrejskim opštinama, o istoriji jevrejske književnosti, o socijalnom i trgovačkom razvitku, o muzici, arhitekturi, o verskim pokretima, o razvitku školstva, o arhivima i o grobljima. Autor ističe da je i istorija Jevreja koji žive na jugoslovenskim prostorima izuzetno bogata, ali nedovoljno istražena. Konstatuje da jugoslovenski Jevreji u tom smislu nemaju svoju istoriju, jer niko nije počeo sistematično sakupljati podatke. Ipak, on daje mnogo izvora o jevrejskom nasleđu koji se mogu naći u Hrvatskoj, Sloveniji, Bosni, Srbiji i Makedoniji. Mnogi od tih izvora imaju veliku istorijsku vrednost ali su javnosti nepoznati. Na kraju rada autor zaključuje da rad na sakupljanju materijala za istoriju jugoslovenskih Jevreja treba da bude prikaz borbe za opstanak, otpor hrišćanstvu i islamu i očuvanje naroda kao celine.

In his article, Dr. Lavoslav Šik talks about the great need to research and write the history of Jews living in Yugoslavia. He cites authors and examples in other countries - Austria, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Russia, where sources and literature on Jewish history began to be collected very seriously. The collected Jewish literature is impressive. Books were published about Jews in those countries, about Jewish communities, about the history of Jewish literature, about social and trade development, about music, architecture, about religious movements, about the development of education, about archives, and about cemeteries. The author points out that the history of Jews living in Yugoslavia is extremely rich but insufficiently researched. He states that Yugoslav Jews do not have their own history in that sense, because no one has started collecting data systematically. However, he provides many sources on Jewish heritage that can be found in Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia, and Macedonia. Many of these sources have great historical value but are unknown to the public. At the end of the paper, the author concludes that the work on collecting material for the history of Yugoslav Jews should be a presentation of the struggle for survival, the resistance to Christianity and Islam, and the preservation of the nation as a whole.
