Prilozi za genealogiju jevrejskih porodica - Jevreji u selima opštine Šid

Abstract

Jevreji su prisutni na teritoriji današnje Opštine Šid od prve polovine 18. veka. Do veće koncentracije jevrejskih porodica dolazi tek sredinom 19. veka. Intenzivne mikromigracije jevrejskih porodica i pojedinaca okarakterisale su čitav 19. vek. Tek krajem veka dolazi do zaustavljanja većih migracija, stalnog naseljavanja, otvaranja firmi, itd. U to vreme, Jevreji naseljavaju sva mesta u Opštini Šid osim manastirskog prnjavora Privine Glave i rusinske kolonije Bikić Dola. Početkom Drugog svetskog rata Jevreji su živeli samo u Šidu, Erdeviku i Sotu. Gotovo svi su nastradali u Holokaustu.

Jews have been present in the territory of the present-day municipality of Šid since the first half of the 18th century. Greater settlement of Jewish families occurred in the mid-19th century, and these intense micromigrations of Jewish families and individuals characterized the entire 19th century. It was not until the late 19th century that major migrations ceased and permanent settlements, trading firms, etc. began to occur. The residence and business of the Jews were recorded in all places except in Privina Glava as a monastery village, and in Bikić Dol, a Greek Catholic (Ruthenian) village. At the beginning of World War II, Jews lived only in Sid, Erdevik, and Sot. Almost everyone was killed in the Holocaust. A Jewish cemetery exists today in Sid, Erdevik, and Morovic. In the period from the 18th century to the beginning of the Second World War the following families were recorded in Adaševci: Neuman, Löwy, and Kaff; in Bačinci: Rosenberg, Morgenstern, Händler, Kohn, and Kraus; in Batrovci: Grünfeld and Eisenberger; in Berkasovo: Popper, Kassawitz, Neuman and Hahn; in Bingula: Baum, Schmutzer, Hubert, Neuman, Kohn, Epstein, Rothmüller, Schmaltz, Spitzer, Grün and Reich; in Vašica: Schmit, Handler, Weiss, Schauer, and Neuman; in Višnjićevo (Grk): Steimnitz, Hubert, Fürst, Steiner, Kohn, Freigenbaum, Grunfeld, and Reich; in Gibarac: Pollak, Krauss, and Glochner; in Ilinci: Müller, Roth, and Stern; in Jamena: Pesing; in Kukujevci: Lederer, Geduldig, Morgenstern, Rosenberg, Hochstraus, Fischer, Gross, Krauss, Deutch, and Lustig; in Ljuba: Händler, Deutch and Stern; in Molovin: Hahn, Bresslauer, Aleveil, and Händler; in Morović: Rosenberg, Kohn, and Grun; in Sot: Berger, Händler, Hahn, and Goldenberg. As the most famous Jew from this region can be mentioned dr. Herbert Kraus (Bačinci, 1910 – Beograd, 1970), member of the partisan movement since 1941, and post-war chief of the Yugoslavian Army Main Hospital and the Military Medical Academy.
